I am utterly in love

May 24, 2011

with Sweet Baboo.

Sweet Baboo is the alias of Stephen Black. A man from North Wales.

I sort of stumbled upon him on Spotify by looking at related artists and more. Then Wikipedia-ing the one band and came across ‘The Bumblebee Song, aka, How I’d Live My Life’.

I couldn’t find this song on Spotify, so I listened to his other material. True they’re is only 16 songs, but they sum up my taste in good music. Folk/indie and just mellow. The Sweet Baboo’s voice has got the right amount of uniqueness, gravelly and deep put perfectly on tune. I just love him.

There isn’t a lot of information on him, but an article says he has released albums in his own house, with help from other talented musicians.

In my opinion, here is a taste of the best Sweet Baboo:

I see they are going to Leadmill in Sheffield. I am there!

Yeah, finishing uni and looking for something to do over the next 5 month summer break, alongside all the drama that has gone on, has made me grow as a person.

A leopard can’t change its spots, so it’s always going to be the same old story for me.. Until someone comes along and breaks the pattern.  This realisation has been enough. Acting upon it is showing improvements too, I’m proud.

Leopard Changing Spots

Looking for a job, I just applied everywhere and anywhere, mainly looking at non-paid summer placements and work experience related to Journalism. Surprisingly, I’ve got responses. One is to work at Wolverhampton City Radio, and I will be actively involved with the running and presenting. The other is a 3 month volunteer internship with Banardos, being a Marketing and Communications Pathway Volunteer. This is if i survive the interview. Oh and another is working for CSV Action joint with the BBC West Midlands, to raise awareness in the community. That sounds good. I just don’t know which one to go for.

I’ve found it hard to find companies that will accept students in their first year at university, but these three seem the best ones available, relating to Journalism. I just decided I best make use of my spare time, especially as a job in the media is so competitive. The more experience I get, the more chance of getting a better job at the end of my degree, and a better grade too.

I think everything is just me coming to terms with the fact I’m growing up. Everyone’s had it or will sooner or later, but I realised I needed to change to gain maturity. I just hope I can last it out!

As this is my 10th blog post, I would like to mark this momentous occasion with a thankyou.

Thanks to all the people who have read my blog so far and the viewers who have tweeted me on Twitter with their comments too.  I really appreciate those of you who retweet my links on Twitter, as that really does widen the viewing audience.

I set out for this blog to have a theme, and I thought it would sort of mould itself into one. I guess the theme is current affairs and my thoughts maybe?

It’s just a blog, the theme can be: a blog. Simple.

So I first thought it would be hard to write a blog. I didn’t want to start a blog moaning about how my life is, or whats going on in my love life, nobody would find that interesting. I don’t mind if there’s an odd post on someone’s blog about that, but a blog needs more substance than that I believe.

I’m quite happy carrying on with what I am blogging about, and I will continue this when my module stops. So can you all carry on tweeting me with your responses, or comment on the blog itself.

Thankyou, and goodnight!

Thumbs up
